…suspected that cyclocross was pretty damn awesome. This confirms it. To the bike ignorant, it may appear that Joey pulled a rookie mistake and, consequently, launched himself airborne. After watching and re-watching (press 2 on your keyboard to get the best replays) this clip is a testament to his experience and skill. He was coming into that barrier with pace and probably gonna put some time on the fellas chasing him until he got his timing messed and clipped that barrier. Most indicative of his experience is when he realizes that he has somehow propelled himself much higher and farther than he should have and instinctively lets things go over the top while tucking into a dive roll. Head tucked tucked to the side, arm through, shoulder, hip, knee. Great crash. Great biking. Great rider.
